Getting Ready for Sunday, October 15th 2017

We have been working our way through the New Testament letter of 1 Corinthians in a series of sermons we’re calling Life Together, since the Apostle Paul wrote this letter to the church in Corinth to encourage them to let the gospel inform and transform all the ways they lived life together. The text for this week is 1 Corinthians 7.7-9, 25-35.

As a part of our time of worship we will pray a prayer of lament and also SING a SONG of lamentation. We learn from the psalms and other parts of Scripture that it’s not only okay but it’s right and good to be honest before the Lord, including crying out when we see things in the world and in our own souls that grieve us. Here’s a brief thought on lament in worship from Bifrost Arts.

Each week we celebrate the Lord’s Supper together. It points us to Christ’s death for us in the past, his present work feeding our souls, and our future hope in the kingdom of God. This week in preparation to come to the table we’ll pray the Lord’s Prayer.

Here are the songs you will be singing:

We meet each Sunday at 9a & 10:45a for worship at the church building at the corner of Floral and Washington, 4400 Floral Ave., 45212. Please sit toward the front of the sanctuary and toward the center of the rows so that folks can grab seats as they make their way in.
