“O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” — Paul

“[At Easter] the order of things has changed: the Tomb devours death and not the dead; the house of death becomes the mansion of life.” —Peter Chrysologus, Bishop of Ravenna, 433 AD

“The message of Easter is that God’s new world has been unveiled in Jesus Christ and that now you are invited to belong to it.” —N.T. Wright

At Easter we declared that Jesus Christ, who died, is alive again. It’s not just that he rose again, but that he’s alive now. And that with his resurrection, something new has entered into our world of death and brokenness.

In the traditional liturgical calendar, Easter is a season and not just a day. We’re trying to lean into that this year at New City, as we try to work out the implications of Christ’s resurrection for our life and mission together in Cincinnati. We’re going to do that by walking through 1 Corinthians 15 — the apostle Paul’s extended reflection on the resurrection. We hope you’ll join us and invite some friends. He is risen – it really is good news.
