Here are some of the things that happened at New City this November…

Come to the Feast

Our fall sermon series and community group discussions centered around the Lord’s Supper and the importance of meals and hospitality.

15 New Members

We welcomed Megan Brunn, Tom and Kristen Byker, Wes and Kelsey Denny, Mike and Kylie Hartman, Kevin Joiner, Jordan and Elissa (and Lucy) Menefield, Grace Owens, Dave and Rhonda Shank, and Vincent Wilson into membership.

2 Baptisms

We baptized Solomon Morwood and Elin Livingston.

5 New Officers

At our congregational meeting we elected new officers, and on November 12 we ordained and installed James Albritton and Dave Dupee as elders and Mike Murrish, Matt Jumper and Nate Dill as deacons.

Give and Take Sale

We had well over 60 shoppers at our fall Give and Take Sale. Over 20 volunteers helped to set up as we made available over 1,000 items. Roughly 85% of items were taken the day of the sale; 10% went to the foster care store, pregnancy East and Catholic charities; 4% were donated to Salvation Army; and 1% were kept for future freesales.

Job change for Ryan

We announced at our Congregational Meeting that Pastor Ryan will be transitioning from his Church Planting Resident role to Pastor for Neighborhood Ministries. Ryan will be helping to coordinate all our local outreach ministries and partnerships, along with other general pastoral duties. This change allows us to continue training and developing Ryan for church planting over a longer time frame, and filling a big need in coordinating our efforts to serve the city.

Tween Retreat

In conjunction with Faith PCA, North Cincinnati and Living Hope, our annual Tween Retreat was at Higher Ground Campground. The theme was “Made for More.”

ESL

We had our first ever ESL (English as a Second Language) training, in preparation for launching this new ministry in 2018.

Campus Ministry Retreat(s)

CCO (our campus ministry at Xavier) had 14 students on their Fall Retreat exploring the theme of rest and Sabbath. Pastor Mike also helped to host 30 CCO Staff from all over the country on the Freedom Tour, learning about race and gospel in America.

Men’s Summits

This Fall we kicked off our monthly Men’s Summits on Friday mornings. Men come out to sing, hear teaching and testimonies, eat breakfast and discuss together.

New City Kids

We continued to offer great care and classes for our nearly 175 children. The little ones got lots of hugs, stories and prayer from our workers. 3’s and 4’s finished their Fall curriculum, ‘God the Creator,’ learning about loving and enjoying God and the world he’s made. Our elementary kids studied the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

City Gospel Mission

We collected 200 jars of peanut butter for City Gospel Mission’s Thanksgiving outreach.

Thanks to everyone for all your prayers, volunteer hours, and generous giving. Let’s continue to celebrate Christ and serve Cincinnati in December!
