First things first…

Through this season of Lent we are walking through St. Matthew’s Passion, Matthew 26-28. This Sunday, March 11th, we’ll be looking at Matthew 26.47-68.

We have the joy of celebrating the baptisms of Liam Brown, Austin Jordan, and Lane McCormick @ 9a and Annie Jo Byker @ 10:45aBaptism is one of two Sacraments we observe at New City (the other being the Lord’s Supper) and it is a sign and seal of the covenant of grace, a picture of what God has done for us in Jesus Christ, and also a picture of the community that God is forming. You’ll see two kinds of baptisms at New City. Adults who place their faith in Christ come to baptism as an expression of their faith and as a sign of their entrance and participation in the covenant community. Children of believing adults are also eligible for baptism. For a child, baptism conveys the grace of being included in God’s covenant community and acts as an engagement to be the Lord’s. In neither case does baptism save a person. We are saved by grace through faith. Adult baptism reflects back to the work of Christ in bringing one to faith, and infant baptism looks forward to a day when a child can embrace the gospel by faith.

Each Sunday we celebrate the Lord’s Supper together. It points us to Christ’s death for us in the past, his present work feeding our souls, and our future hope in the kingdom of God.

Here are the songs you will be singing:

Come and SingDeath in His Grave, Jesus Keep Me Near the Cross, To Christ the Lord, Jesus I My Cross Have Taken, On Jordan’s Stormy Banks.

Listen on Spotify or Youtube or click on the individual links above. Take a listen and be familiar with the songs so you’ll be ready to sing come Sunday morning.

But wait…there’s more! Since I’ll be in India all next week, here’s what’s coming up on Sunday, March 18th.

Our text for the morning is Matthew 26.69-75. We’ll pray together using a portion of St. Patrick’s “Breastplate” prayer, a prayer that is over 1,500 years old. We’ll also welcome new members at our 9a worship gathering.

Listen here on Spotify or Youtube or click on the individual song title: Come Ye Souls By Sin Afflicted, Be Thou My VisionHallelujah! What a Savior, Death in His GraveOne Hanging on a TreeWood and Nails, Your Labor is Not in Vain.

We meet each Sunday at 9a & 10:45a for worship at the church building at the corner of Floral and Washington, 4400 Floral Ave., 45212Please sit toward the front of the sanctuary and toward the center of the rows so that folks can grab seats as they make their way in.
